Dierama pulcherrimum cerise (20 seeds)

$6.00

This exquisite dark purple/blackish form is quite uncommon. Also known as Angel’s or fairies fishing rod. This species thrives in Tasmanian gardens actually enjoying our summer heat and dry, it must be grown in a sunny position to give its best. They flower in profusion in late December through to the end of January. Flowers are up to 1.5 metres tall and make a fine cut flower. A reliable and profuse Dierama which results from our selection made about 20 years ago from seeds sent from South Africa.

A very easy genus of plants to grow from seeds, all that is necessary is a good quality seedling media. Our seeds are as fresh as we can possibly make them and we recommend that you sow them as soon as possible after they arrive. We suggest using a 150 mm pot and fill close to the top with seedling media, place seeds on top of the media and top with 6-7 mm of media and some large quartz sand if available, water in and set the pot in a semi-shaded area.

Seedlings can be pricked out after a few months or alternatively wait until the following spring for a stronger plant. Dieramas must grow in full sun, we mulch our plants very heavily and fertilise generously, a late summer dry period is beneficial.
